Britz: Fact or Fiction
November 1, 07 – 8:44 pmThe Story
Britz is a two part drama written by Peter Kosminsk. The drama revolves around brother and sister Sohail and Nasima. The first part focuses in on Sohail’s side of the story while the second installment focuses on sister Nasima.
Sohail is a British Muslim who has turned his back on “radicalism” and has joined MI5. Nasima is a medical student who, as it is portrayed, turns to terror as a means to protest against the killing of Muslims in Iraq.
Plot Analysis
There are some perks in the plot which I think are quite a major flaw with the drama. We have to think if this girl, Nasima, is going to turn to a radical form of expressing her self from doing activities such as sleeping with her boyfriend with whom she in not married. This is going from one extreme to another, because in Islam it is forbidden to commit such acts with a person who you are not married with.
There is little fluidity in this part of the plot, in real life I think it highly unlikely for a person to go from a couldn’t-care-less attitude about a religion and then transition to an extreme and distorted form of that religion which includes killing yourself.
Final Comments
From what I have heard from others the acting has been intensely good and thee plot is gripping ; it is a very good drama but with reference to the title “Fact or Fiction” I think that it is much more fiction than anywhere near fact.
That’s my opinion of it but I did only see a part of the drama so my view may be yet incomplete.
